Fenugreek, one of the botanicals in New Mama's proprietary blend, was chosen for its effects on milk production. It is one of the most widely recommended galactagogues (a substance that increases milk supply) on the market.
One of our favorite resources for breastfeeding and pumping mamas is KellyMom.com. It's full of incredible, evidence based information shared by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
KellyMom says of Fenugreek: “Breastfeeding moms find that their breast milk flow increases within one to three days of starting to consume fenugreek. It could take up to 2 weeks to see an increase in breast milk production in some women.
Fenugreek has been used short and long term to boost or augment milk supply and/or pumping yields. There are no studies indicating problems with long term usage.
All that just means give your New Mama a few days to a couple weeks to get to work in the body and see a boost in your milk supply.
NOTE: Fenugreek is not recommended for women with PCOS, insulin dependent diabetes, or hypothyroid.
